Here at Ann’s Cottage we have chosen to support local charities that are very close to our heart.
Ann’s Cottage has always been a family run business and family is very important to Owner and Managing Director Rob Harris. Rob is extremely generous in his charity work and contributions, often donating to those that resonate with him on a personal level.
Cornwall Hospice Care
In particular Rob has chosen to support the Cornwall Hospice Care who cared for his wife in her last few months as she battled with cancer. Cornwall Hospice Care provide 24/7 care free of charge for people like Beverly who are coping with a terminal illness.
Cornwall Air Ambulance
Our main charity that we support is the Cornwall Air Ambulance, without who Rob’s daughter Sophie would not be with us today! It is down to the quick response of the helicopter and crew who managed to save Sophie’s life after a devastating car crash that she is still with us.
The Cornwall Air Ambulance fly on more than 700 missions every year providing vital emergency treatment for patients across Cornwall and the Isle of Scilly. They do not receive any government funding therefore it is down to the generosity of donations that they manage to provide this critical care service and save countless lives every year. We have donated to the Cornwall Air Ambulance by sponsoring their helicopter, as well as their annual Summer Ball.
Children’s Hospice South West
We support the Children’s Hospice South West with the sponsorship of their annual Rainbow Run, which is a fun run event that helps to raise money for the care and support they provide to families who have children with life limiting conditions. The Children’s Hospice provide services that support the whole family from the moment the child is diagnosed through to end of life care and even bereavement services.
The fourth charity we support is Macmillan; who try to help people take back control of their life after they have been diagnosed with cancer, they provide a place to talk and a place to seek advice on money and work worries. Their support helps people to feel more like themselves at a time that is truly difficult.
Surfers Against Sewage
A new charity that we started supporting in 2018 is Surfers against Sewage whose work to keep our oceans protected and clean is an issue that is very close to our heart. Ever since Ann’s Cottage began on Polzeath beach, way back in 1978 we have been synonymous with all things relating to the beach; the sea, the surf - the purity of Cornwall, which is exactly why we are desperate to help protect these precious and priceless qualities. We feel extremely honoured to be able to support Surfers Against Sewage who not only share this same passion but also have a vision and drive to keep our seas surfable, beautiful and most importantly clean!
