Elizah Bond – Practice Makes Perfect

Billy Rowe

Elizah Bond is only 8 years old but she’s already inspiring the next generation of skateboarders. If you’ve followed her progress on Instagram then you’ll already know how insanely talented she is.

Elizah’s many hours of hard work and practice on the skate parks is a shining example to other young, aspiring skateboarders.

And that’s why we’re proud to have Elizah as one of our team riders as we encourage others to follow her awesome lead and discover the joy of skateboarding.

We’re always excited to hear about her progress, and as we get ready to celebrate Go Skateboarding Day on June 21st we caught up with her for a quick chat.

Is it hard to learn new tricks?

Yes, it takes a lot of perseverance and focus, but you have to just keep trying. You can do anything if you put your mind to it!

When did you start skateboarding and how did it come about in the first place?

I started skating when I was 7 during the first lockdown. It came about because I wanted to try something new and I ended up really enjoying it.

Is learning to skate for the first time difficult?

Yes! You fall a lot and you take a few hard slams, but when you finally mange to do something you have been trying to do for so long, it’s the best feeling in the world.

Where are the best places to skateboard if you’re just starting out?

Little skate parks like Newlyn East and Padstow are great for beginners. The ramps are little and fun, and perfect for trying new things for the first time.

What do you love about skateboarding?

When I’m skateboarding I feel free, and don’t have to think about anything else. If I ever feel stressed or upset, I can skate my troubles away. I love that it is something I can do on my own, but I also love that I can skate with other people, and I always make new friends. Cornwall has a brilliant community of skaters!
